Former BYU stand-out linebacker, Derik Stevenson had a long pathway from BYU to the NFL. Derik was a star college athlete at Brigham Young University in the late 1990s. Derik was known for hard hits, especially on kickoffs. Opposing teams would have to put three defenders just on him to save their teammates from the hard hitting Derik Stevenson.

Derik found himself in a lot of trouble early in his college career. He was eventually kicked out of school but fought his way back  during a stretch of two years.

Derik eventually played two seasons in the NFL with the Miami Dolphins.

 

Currently, Derik still loves his alum and stays very close to the program. Derik was actually a big help for Kalani Sitaki, current head coach of the football program, get his current position by making a push for changes around the university.

 

Derik has a very successful business and enjoys spending as much time possible with his daughters.
